AI search for Shopify stores

Search that understands what shoppers mean

Shoppers type what they want in plain words, and your store's search understands. Findel reads whole sentences, corrects typos, answers questions from your policies and FAQ, and shows products from your own catalogue.

See it working

Findel in a Shopify store

A short recording of the search pop-up in our demo store, a Shopify store with sample home decor products. Then open the store and try your own words.

[PLACEHOLDER: demo video, assets/demo.mp4]

In the recording, a shopper types four requests:

  • linen curtains under 60a material and a price
  • cusion coversa typo
  • something warm for the sofano product is called that
  • do you ship abroad?a question about the store

The products there are samples; the search is the real app.

Search quality

It understands what shoppers mean, not just the words

Most store search matches words. Findel reads a request the way a shop assistant would, then finds the answer in your own catalogue, pages and policies.

How a keyword search and Findel handle the same request
The shopper typesKeyword searchFindel
crib that converts to a toddler bed under $500 Looks for every word, including "that", "to" and "$500". Few matches, and the price limit is just another word. Reads the product (a crib), what it has to do (convert to a toddler bed) and the price limit, and shows those cribs.
white cribs Matches "white" anywhere, so a crib whose description mentions white sheets ranks like a white crib. Knows white is the colour and crib the product: white cribs come first, opened on the white variant.
baby strolelr An exact word match finds no product called "strolelr", so the page is empty. Corrects the typo against the words in your own catalogue and shows strollers.
lether sofa under $800 No product has the word "lether", and "$800" is just one more word to match, so the page is empty. Corrects "lether" to "leather" and still reads the price limit: leather sofas under $800.
something to keep my baby warm in the car Needs the exact words a product uses. Shoppers rarely type them. Understands the need and finds products that fit it, even when their titles use other words.
do you ship to Canada? Shows products that happen to mention Canada, or nothing. Answers from your shipping policy and names the page the answer came from.
couch for a small living room Your catalogue says "sofa", so a search for "couch" finds nothing unless someone adds that synonym by hand. Knows a couch is a sofa and shows sofas that suit a small room.

The same requests, typed into a search that matches words and into Findel. Findel never invents results: everything it shows comes from your store.

How it works

Live in three steps

No code to write and nothing to edit in your theme's files. The setup guide in the app walks you through each step.

  1. Install and choose a plan

Add Findel from the Shopify App Store and pick a plan on Shopify's billing page. Starter, Growth and Pro begin with a 14-day free trial.

  2. Turn on the app embed

Switch Findel on under App embeds in your theme editor, then choose Use my theme's search: your theme's own search icon and box open Findel.

  3. Your catalogue syncs itself

Findel copies your products, collections, pages and policies, and keeps products up to date in real time after that.

Step-by-step instructions are in the documentation.

Features

What Findel does for your store

The AI reads the question. It never invents products: every result comes from your own catalogue.

Natural-language search

Shoppers can type a sentence: the product, a colour or size, what it is for, a price limit. Findel turns it into a precise search over your catalogue.

Typo tolerance

Misspelled words are corrected against your own catalogue's vocabulary. A search that would find nothing is rescued instead of ending on an empty page.

Filters like Shopify's

Filters, value groups and colour swatches that behave like Shopify Search & Discovery's. Import the filters you already have in one step.

Answers to store questions

When a shopper asks "do you ship to Canada?", Findel answers from your own policies, pages and FAQ, and names the page the answer came from.

Analytics and revenue from search

See what shoppers search for, which searches found nothing, what they clicked and what search earned. A sale counts as revenue from search only when the shopper clicked that product in a search and bought it within 7 days.

Merchandising

Boost rules put chosen collections or tags first for a search phrase. Synonyms connect the words shoppers use with the words your catalogue uses. Any product can stay on your storefront and out of search.

On every plan: a search bar, a pop-up and a results page; pages, articles and collections in results; prices in the shopper's currency; sold-out products shown last or hidden.

Pricing

Plans for every catalogue size

Searches are never capped. Each plan includes a number of AI searches a month; after those, search keeps working as keyword and semantic search until the month resets. On Enterprise the AI continues and is billed per use.

Prices are in US dollars a month. Plans are chosen and billed through Shopify: charges appear on your Shopify invoice, and you can change or cancel at any time. A free trial includes 500 AI searches in total and nothing is charged until it ends; your plan's monthly AI searches begin after it. An answer to a question about your store counts as one AI search. Cached and repeated searches don't count.

FAQ

Questions merchants ask

Does Findel change my theme?

No. Findel does not edit your theme's code. It is switched on through an app embed in Shopify's theme editor, and the recommended setup uses your theme's own search icon and box. You can also add a search bar, a search icon or the results block where your theme allows app blocks.

Which themes are supported?

Online Store 2.0 themes: themes that let apps add blocks in the theme editor, which includes Shopify's current free themes. Older (vintage) themes are not supported. If yours is one, contact us and we will help.

What happens when the monthly AI searches run out?

Search keeps working. Until the month resets it runs as keyword and semantic search without the AI reading each query, so it gets simpler but never stops. On Enterprise the AI continues and is billed per use.

What counts as an AI search?

A search the AI reads. An answer to a question about your store counts as one AI search. Searches served from cache, repeated searches and type-ahead suggestions don't count.

Do my products and pages stay up to date?

Products and collections update in real time when you change them in Shopify. Shopify sends no change events for pages, policies or blog articles, so those are read again when you run a sync from the app.

What do shoppers need to accept?

Nothing to search. Findel's anonymous session cookie is set only when the shopper allows analytics in your store's cookie banner (Shopify's customer privacy settings). Without it, search works the same, just without personalised ranking or purchase attribution for that shopper. Details are in the privacy policy.

Where is my store's data kept?

On servers in the EU. Some of our service providers, such as backup storage and AI processing, may process data in the USA. The privacy policy has the details.
